Mexicana is Mexico's number one airline, with an impressive 88 years of experience in the aviation business. As the country's flagship carrier, it has a strong international presence. In 2008, Mexicana transported some 11.7 million passengers and, in terms of passenger volumes, is also the leading Mexican airline on the US and Canadian markets, of which it has in-depth knowledge.

One of the world's first four airlines, Mexicana has always been a pioneering force in the industry and has mapped out of the course of aviation in Mexico over the decades with its visionary, innovative spirit.

Mexicana flies to some 60 destinations in Mexico, North America, Central and South America and Europe. The group has three airlines: Mexicana, which serves the international market; MexicanaClick, the country's largest domestic carrier; and MexicanaLink, a regional airline created to provide greater connectivity.

Travel Classes:
Mexicana is a full service network airline, with all its flights offering two classes of service - MexicanaElite Class (Business) and Economy Class.

MexicanaElite Class offers bed seats and an exclusive in-flight menu created by Mexicana's Executive Chef Enrique Olvera, one of the Mexico's most highly acclaimed culinary icons. To accompany your meal, choose from a list of premium wines selected by Executive Sommelier Sandra Fernández from Tierra de Vinos.

Mexicana's innovative Portable Media Player System comes programmed with a selection of movies, television series, music videos, music, interactive games and corporate information.

Codeshare Partners:
Among its oneworld partners Mexicana codeshares with American Airlines, Japan Airlines, Iberia and Qantas.

Beyond oneworld Mexicana codeshares with Aeromar, Air New Zealand, Avianca and Lufthansa.

oneworld Airline Affiliates:
MexicanaClick: this wholly owned subsidiary is the first and largest low-cost carrier in Mexico. MexicanaClick serves 29 domestic destinations plus Havana. It is replacing its Fokkers 100s with a fleet of 25 Boeing 717s, configured to seat 104 passengers, 20 in MexicanaElite Class, 84 in Tourist Class. On the ground it shares check-in counters with Mexicana.
MexicanaLink: this wholly owned subsidiary began operations in March 2009 with a fleet of 50-seat new generation Bombardier CRJ200s in a single class layout. It is initially flying from Guadalajara to various Mexican domestic destinations, serving 18 airports in total. On the ground it shares check-in counters with Mexicana.

Mexicana Airlines ceased its operations on August 28, 2010.
Since that time the company's homepage has been informing:

"Confident that Mexicana Airlines has what it takes to begin operating again, investors have submitted a series of proposals for the capitalization of the airline, which are currently being evaluated.
The company continues developing a policy to further assist customers who purchased tickets with Mexicana and would like to utilize them for future transportation. This is in addition of what is required under applicable laws. 
At Mexicana we keep working confident we will have the pleasure of serving you again. 
We appreciate your understanding and will keep you informed of any new developments."
